Scope and Purpose

  • Produce research reports outlining a view (based on fundamental analysis and the identification of the drivers of financial performance) on the listed stocks under coverage, principally in the assigned sector with a specific focus on Energy, Automotive / Industrial, Financial, TMT and Infrastructure;
  • Assign an investment rating on the covered stocks for distribution to the bank's institutional clients;
  • Combine fundamental analysis (e.g. financial statements analysis and benchmarking of Italian and international competitors) with a thorough understanding of the way technical and regulatory aspects interact with market factors (e.g. supply and demand dynamics on primary and secondary markets), as well as the business models adopted in the different industrial sectors under coverage. Knowledge of ESG criteria for the covered stocks is an additional requirement;
  • Understand and develop full earnings models and main valuation methodologies to support the analysis.   expelfac

Main Tasks

  • Produce initiation of coverage reports and regular company updates on the stocks under coverage as well as sector reports and company/sector comments for the Equity Daily report; 
  • Produce company and sector reports incorporating in-depth analysis, as necessary, on ESG themes;
  • Proactively take part on a regular basis in the morning sales meeting, continuously supporting our equity sales team as well as marketing activities with Italian and international investors (conference calls, meetings, roadshows);
  • Consolidate the business relationships with the companies under coverage, including roadshow planning (both sector-specific and generic) in Italy and abroad; organization of events with companies in the same business sector as the covered stocks;
  • Possible involvement in the production of IPO reports for primary market operations

Required Experience

At least 10 years of experience in equity research or in investment banking or in the relative industrial sector in the fields of planning&control, M&A, investor relations.

Required Qualifications, Skills and Knowledge

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance or Business Management/Maths and Statistics, followed by an MBA in Finance;
  • Fluent English (spoken and written);
  • A thorough knowledge of financial statements analysis and experience of the main valuation methodologies is essential;
  • Knowledge of the regulation of the sector under coverage and of the key relative ESG themes;
  • Proficiency in MS Office tools (Word, Excel, Powerpoint) and the main info providers (e.g. FactSet, Bloomberg, Eikon, Reuters/Refinitiv)
  • High flexibility in terms of working hours (early morning, late evening);
  • Available for frequent business travel in Italy and abroad.
