New York - Head of KYC

Scope and Purpose


• Serve as a subject matter expert and escalation point for KYC procedures • Advise lines of business on how to perform the most effective execution of the ISPNY KYC Procedures • Manage associates/professionals in support of the KYC review activities • Manage workload and assignments, and overall deliverables and resource capacity of team • Provide technical support to the lines of business so that KYC is performed in an efficient, accurate and professional manner • Have a strong understanding of the KYC policy and procedures, lines of business procedures and templates guidance documents • Demonstrate intelligent use of system tools and procedures, • Understand and comply with internal control standards, • Support KYC requirements for customers, across multiple business lines, ensuring AML Regulations and Bank's policies and procedures are fully implemented, • Ensure the KYC escalation policies are followed, • Respond efficiently to other "ad hoc" requests for assistance from lines of business • Manage and/or facilitate procedure writing, review/editing, and maintenance for KYC/EDD processes, including but not limited to CDD/EDD, Negative News Screening, PEP and Correspondent Banking; • Conduct and prepare impact assessments on proposed process/procedural changes; • Prepare and deliver presentations to senior managers and KYC stakeholders as needed; • Manage multiple projects with timely delivery and regular stakeholder reporting; • Provide training to business lines, as needed • Maintain the annual procedure updates schedule 

Required Experience


•    Minimum 10-15 years experience in financial services industry, of which:
o    Minimum 5 years experience in AML/KYC and/or Compliance supervisory management role 
o    Minimum 5 years experience supporting the Corporate & Investment Banking business/organization as subject matter expert on AML and KYC; 
•    Experience in serving as subject matter expert and escalation point for KYC procedures
•    Experience in implementing new processes and change management mechanisms; 
•    Prior Legal and/or Compliance Advisory experience a plus

Competencies Required


• Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution • Advanced degree or professional certification preferred • Strong knowledge and experience of USA PATRIOT Act/BSA regulations and KYC-related industry practices • Solid knowledge of corporate banking lines of business products and dynamics, especially of Trade Finance business and related international business practices • Knowledge of risk management and internal control principles • Knowledge of BSA/AML and Sanctions (OFAC) and associated risks • Ability to provide oversight and directly influence change • Strong organizational, project management, and multi-tasking skills with demonstrated ability to manage expectations and deliver results • Strong decision making and analytical skills • Proven ability to build strong partnerships with business lines managers • Data management and data analysis skills • Understanding of Transaction Monitoring common practices in the US market • Strong knowledge of U.S. AML rules and best practices, KYC in particular; • Ability to serve as subject matter expert for AML and KYC procedures • Solid knowledge of Import/Export Finance, Trade Finance and Structured Trade Finance international business practices • Strong understanding of the KYC policy, corporate banking line of business procedures and template guidance documents • Ability to work with various stakeholders across the organization: Front Office business lines (corporate banking), Audit, etc • Ability to manage KYC associates/professionals • Strong organizational skills, time management, ability to prioritize and multitask; • Strong writing, research, and analysis skills; • Strong presentation skills • Ability to succeed in a deadline-oriented environment; • Strong interpersonal communication (written and verbal) and emotional intelligence;
