Scope and Purpose
Under the direction of the Head of Internal Audit of the NY Branch or the Head of IMI-CIB Foreign Network Audit Manager, the Auditor may either independently or collectively with the NY Branch Audit Department or with HO auditors, carry out or lead internal audit engagements covering different areas and will evaluate internal controls the audited activity / structure / process, document audit test work and communicate audit issues to management. The Auditor will adhere to the obligatory IIA Standards, as well as the standards of the NY Branch Internal Audit Manual. Auditor will support the Head of Internal Audit of the NY Branch in the preparation of quarterly reports relating to departmental activities within the NY Branch Internal Audit Department.
The main activities:
- Lead a variety of audit activities (e.g., audits, change activities, regulatory issue validations, risk assessments), covering different areas / organizational structures / processes including planning, testing, risk and control evaluation, issue dimensioning and report drafting while ensuring audit activities are completed timely and within budget.
- Proactively collaborate with other teams within Internal Audit, including Specialists (SMEs), Data Analytics, and Technology (ICT/Cyber) Audit teams.
- Finalize audit findings and use risk-based judgment to provide an overall opinion on the control environment and communicate results to senior management.
- Produce high quality audit products (reports, workpapers, etc.).
- Monitor the implementation of remedial actions related to audit findings and verify / validate their completion.
- Stay up-to-date with the evolution of the industry trends, of the business and operational activities of the Branch, as well as with the changes in the related internal (local and HO) and external regulations.
- Take ownership of self-development, including stretch assignments, to prepare for greater responsibilities and career growth, and engage in the various forms of Internal Audit and firmwide continued learning.
- Foster a business climate and culture that encourages integrity, respect, diversity, excellence and innovation.
- Build and maintain key relationships with stakeholders (Branch Management, second level control functions), establishing a culture of engagement while adding value by recommending best practice solutions to issues, maintaining independence.
- Represent Internal Audit at internal/external meetings when required.
- Assist with other ad-hoc tasks and projects as required
Required Experience
Minimum of five (5) years experience at a large financial firm (Commercial Banking, Brokerage, Insurance), large accounting / advisory firm or banking regulator
Competencies Required
- Bachelor’s Degree in a business discipline (Accounting, Finance, or Economics) from an accredited institution
- Knowledge of corporate governance, risk management best practices, and corporate banking services; experience in auditing the credit area or in a loan review function is a plus
- Knowledge of banking regulations, particularly concerning BSA/AML and Sanctions (OFAC), familiarity with FFIEC BSA/AML examination manuals
- Solid understanding of internal control concepts, with the ability to evaluate and determine the adequacy of controls by considering business and technology risks in an integrated manner
- Knowledge of Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA), Bank Administration Institute (BAI), and the American Bankers Association (ABA) auditing, banking and regulatory standards
- CIA, CFSA or CPA certification is a plus, CAMS certification is highly desirable
- Commitment to participate in continuing education & training programs and courses, which may occasionally be taken on the auditors own time (after work and weekends)
- Efficient communication (verbal and written) skills to deal effectively and confidently with department managers
- Effective time management know-how to meet deadlines to issue reports
- Ability to lead projects and participate in assignments in a team environment
- Strong analytical skills particularly in regard to assessing the probability and impact of an internal control weakness
- Flexible to changing business priorities and ability to multitask in a constantly changing environment
- Practical knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Access) with intermediate-level knowledge of Excel and a general understanding of IT architecture and controls; familiarity or experience with a compliance-based system a plus
- Ability to facilitate effective collaboration to allow positive working relationships with Head Office Internal Audit, IT and other business units
The salary range for this job offer would be 80k - 110k $
