Scope and Purpose

BSA/AML Responsibilities
•    Timely review and investigation of all unusual or suspicious activity identified by an AFC FIU Analyst through their review of GIFTS EDD patterns/profiles alerts or referred by other entities of the ISPNY Branch and subsequently assigned by the AFC Head of FIU and/or designee for its ultimate review.
•    Prepare and forward Requests for Information ("RFIs") to the Branch Relationship Managers or Head Office to obtain additional information about a customer, a customer's customer or transactions.
•    Suggest closing cases for which potential suspicious activity is not detected.
•    Make a preliminary assessment(s) and present to the AFC Head of FIU and/or designee whether a SAR needs to be filed.
•    Prepare Investigation documentation and SAR write-ups.
•    Record in the Case Management System ("Case Tracker") all results of research, a determination as to whether there is suspicious activity or not and the rationale for the conclusion reached and recommendation made.

OFAC Responsibilities
•    Review, investigate and opine on all AML/Shell related alerts escalated in the screening systems. 
•    Notify Sanctions team when a transaction is confirmed as ready to process. Determine if further information is required.

Required Experience

• Minimum of Five (5) years in Compliance related matters with knowledge of BSA/AML and OFAC laws and regulations and practical experience in monitoring and analyzing customer accounts for suspicious activity. • Minimum of Five (5) years experience in the banking industry. Preferably in Compliance and Operations. 

Competencies Required

• Knowledge of funds transfer, check processing and trade finance activity. • Exceptional communication (both oral and written) and efficient organizational skills. • Microsoft Office proficient (World and Excel).
