Scope and Purpose

 

The selected candidate has to:

 

  • Perform fundamental analysis and financial modeling on individual securities as agreed upon with the Portfolio Manager
  • Perform research and analysis on relevant sectors, themes and macro developments in support of existing or potential positions
  • Attend investment conferences and maintain regular communications with sell-side analysts and company representatives
  • Travel for site-visits and channel checking where appropriate
  • Generate new investment ideas based on internal or external research, newsflow, quantitative screening or other sources
  • Communicate analysis results and new ideas to portfolio managers and team members both verbally and in writing as appropriate
  • Monitor performance and material changes of existing positions daily and perform period reviews
  • Assist team with positions outside of China where China specific knowledge or analysis is needed
  • Advise Portfolio Managers on sizing, risk management and portfolio construction related matters as needed
  • Perform ad hoc investment related tasks as needed

 

Required Experience

 

4-5 years experience

Required Qualifications, Skills and Knowledge

The successful candidate has the following requirements:

  • Bachelors degree with strong academic track record
  • Experience with fundamental research and financial modelling
  • CFA certification or candidacy a plus
  • Disciplined approach to the investment process
  • Deep knowledge of China equity markets and securities both on-shore and off-shore
  • Ability to follow and form an understanding of the regulatory and policy environment in China
  • Competency in financial modeling and forecasting with familiarity of local accounting standards
  • Quickly develop the ability to independently analysis individual securities and generate new ideas where opportunities arise
  • Effectively communicate and build working relationships with sell-side analysts and company representatives
  • Ability to incorporate alternative research and data into the investment process
  • Basic understanding of risk management and trading risks
  • Basic understanding of the portfolio construction process
  • Fluent in English and Chinese Mandarin
  • Proven ability to work independently with high attention to detail
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to effectively employ alternative research
  • Good communication skills both in support of Portfolio Managers and when working with other investment team members
  • Strong interpersonal and networking skills
  • Ability to quickly adapt to different investment styles and coverage
